Tell us what you think:
We want you to help us refine the newly retitled draft Decision-Making for End-of-Life Care policy before it’s finalized.
The draft policy has been updated to be more concise than the current Planning for and Providing Quality End-of-Life Care policy, and focuses solely on the most challenging end-of-life care decisions and the discussions that inform those decisions. Most notably, the draft policy sets out a new framework regarding withholding resuscitative measures and writing DNR orders. The aim of the draft policy is to strike a balance that both supports physician professional judgment and respects the diversity of patient wishes, values, and beliefs.
The draft Advice to the Profession: End-of-Life Care document has been updated to clarify and further explain the draft policy’s content while also providing guidance on other issues related to end-of-life care more broadly as well as links to additional resources for physicians and patients.

Have your say:
We want to hear your thoughts on the draft policy. For example, we’re interested to know:
- Does the draft policy provide useful guidance to physicians?
- Does the draft policy strike the right balance between supporting physician expertise and respecting/considering the diversity of patient wishes, values, and beliefs?
- Are the expectations set out in the draft policy clear and reasonable?
- Are there issues not addressed in the draft policy that should be?
Or feel free to answer the additional questions we have in our online survey regarding the draft policy content (click here to download the PDF list of questions).
Please provide your feedback by Monday, August 22, 2022.
