Dear CPSO Policy Department,
Thank you for the invitation to provide feedback on the CPSO Providing Physician Services During Job Action policy draft. The relationship between patient care and job action is very important.
We have reviewed the document and have a few suggestions that the College may want to consider:
We appreciate the inclusion of an outline of possible reasons for job actions, and suggest that it should be noted that the list is not meant to be all-inclusive but representative examples of reasons for job action. For example, this could be changed to: “Job actions can occur for various reasons, including, but not limited to, or those related to ….”
In the example list of various reasons for job action, it should include action to restore/improve services to patients either for purposes of safety, access to services or overall health of a patient population.
We appreciate that it is articulated how urgent/necessary care is to be defined (i.e., through triage and clinical judgment). We believe this provides clear guidance.
We once again appreciate being included in the CPSO's consultative process.

Hello,
As a mature member of the public, living in [redacted], my brief comments include the importance of respect for our medical health care professionals - doctors, nurses and others.
I would like to think there will be no future need for job actions. In the event they are necessary I would support the physicians in their decision and would make an effort to not require medical care during the job actions.
By respect I am referring to compensation and policies associated with professional organizations at the federal and provincial levels as the governments allocate fair compensation to retain and recruit doctors.
In Ontario, we have read about the London Health Sciences misappropriation of millions of health care dollars by contractors in collaboration with senior financial employees.
Also in Ontario, the nurses at [redacted], [redacted], are expected to park well off site at assigned lots in the city and with possible shuttle to the hospital for their shifts, regardless of season or time of day or safety.
Thank you for considering this perspective.
